Description: During this tour you will enjoy the beauty of Central Tien-Shan mountains, see one of the most magnificent mountain lake, see how nowadays people live in the villages and experience the ancient culture of Kyrgyz nomads where you will be welcomed with warmest hospitality. Kyrgyz people used to do their traditional dwelling and dresses with the felt. Felt plays an important role in the culture of nomadic ethnic groups in Central Asia. For centuries, they lived in yurts, mobile houses, made out of felt. Handicrafts, mainly our of fabrics to these days play a big role in social life and are the treasure of each woman, which she received as dowry from her mother. Motives of ornaments and the striking colour combinations are usually taken from our breathtaking Kyrgyz nature and from our traditional tales. The modern felt carpets and dresses, meeting western quality requirements and the same time asian taste are worldwide innovation.
Itinerary
Day 1: Bishkek. Arrival in Bishkek. Picking up at the airport and transfer to the hotel. Breakfast. Visiting of Art galleries in the city at Ala-Too Square, Art Museum. Lunch in the city. Visiting of felt shops where you will know about culture and traditions of making felt things. Also visiting of the modern felt dresses shop. Short city tour around the capital: Philharmonic, Statue of Manas, Victory Square, etc. Dinner. Accommodation in the hotel or Guest House (please see below).
Day 2: Bishkek – Chon-Kemin. On the way visiting of Burana Tower (10-13 century) on the place of an ancient city Balasagyn. We will also visit Uighur, Kyrgyz and Dungan villages. Here one always admires unique nature of Kemin valley and experience life style of a village. You can ride in horse chart, or to hike in mountain fir-tree forests or to walk in a village and communicate with people. Stay in a traditional guest house with local family.
Day 3: Chon-Kemin-Kalmak-Ashuu pass: After breakfast (about 09:00) we will make way to the gorge Kalmak-Ashuu. Start of our trekking tour. The route runs in woodlands, alpine meadows where it is possible to see endemic of Kyrgyzstan – Tien-Shan fir tree. Stop on the way. Dinner. Overnight in tents.
Day 4: Kalmak-Ashuu – Balikchi – Issyk-Kul: We leave our tent camp about 09:00 after breakfast. We ascent Kalmak-Ashuu (3200m). After we descent to Issyk-Kul hollow. Accommodation in resort hotel (Royal Beach or similar). Dinner.
Day 5: Issyk-Kul - Karakol: Transfer to Karakol. After lunch drive to Karakol (140km). Lunch in a café. City tour around Karakol: Dungan mosque built in Chinese style, Russian Orthodox Church, Przevalsky Museum. Participation in felt objects making. Accommodation in home stays with local families. Dinner and folklore show in Dungan family.
Day 6:Karkol – Kyzyl-Tuu – Kochkor: After breakfast transfer to Kochkor. Drive along the south cost of Issyk-Kul lake. On the way visiting the demonstration of yourt making (traditional dwelling of kyrgyzs) in Kyzyl –Tuu. After lunch drive to Kochkor village via picturesque pass. In Kochkor you will be greeted by local families. In the afternoon visit to the workshop where local women make traditional felt carpets as they used to do it centuries ago. You can participate in this procedure and also buy some handicraft. In the evening tasty traditional dinner. Overnight in home stays.
Day7: Kochkor-Son-Kul lake:Transfer to Son-Kul lake ( 120 km). In two-three hours you will be in the beautiful mountain lake(3016m above sea level). Lunch upon arriving. Short walking along the lake or horse back riding. Dinner and overnight in the yurt.
Day 8:Son-Kul lake: Free day at the lake. Today you can ride horse or go for a short hike. In this magnificent place you can see hundreds of herds and a lot of different yurts, where you for sure will be invited to have kymyz with a traditional bread, diverse very tasty milk products and jam. Dinner and overnight in the yurt.
Day 9: Son-Kul – Kyzyl-Oi: After breakfast drive to Kyzyl-Oi village (200 km). The village is situated in the picturesque narrow gorge of Kokomeren river (1800m above sea level). Here you can see the real life of rural people. The village has hardly changed since mid of the last century. Accomodation in home stay.
Day 10: Kyzyl-Oi – Bishkek: After breakfast drive to Bishkek (200 km) via Tju-Ashuu tunnel. Lunch on the way . Arrival in Bishkek. Accomodation in the hotel. Dinner at the restaurant, folklore show.
Day 11: Departure. Transfer to the airport.
