Route: Bishkek – Jety Oguz valley – Terskey-Ala-Too range – Karakol – Issyk-Kul – Bishkek
Description: The unique climate of Issyk-Kul and its surroundings, which combines the peculiarities of both mountainous and maritime, is conditioned by the presence of a giant, natural accumulator – Lake Issyk-Kul. Where else in the northern latitudes of the world can you get such a combination: hot sun, the scent of coniferous forests and the refreshing coolness of a sea breeze. Journey along the Terskey where the air itself is salubrious – it is an excellent opportunity to rejuvenate yourself and collect some unforgettable impressions.
Itinerary: Day 1. Bishkek. Arrival in Bishkek (800 m above sea level). Transfer to B&B. Rest. Breakfast. City tour in Bishkek. Visits of Museums, eastern bazaar, souvenir shops. Or 1 day radial trek in Ala-Archa gorge to “Ratsek” house. Lunch. Back to Bishkek. Dinner. Overnight. Day 2. Bishkek – Jety Oguz valley. Breakfast. Early morning transfer to Jety-Oguz valley (370 km) along coast of Issyk-Kul Lake. Lunch on the way. Shepherds tell a lot of legends about the beautiful, famous, red rocks known as “Seven Bulls” and “Broken Heart”. Taste Kymyz (mare’s milk). Accommodation in yurts base camp. Dinner. Overnight in "Flower valley". (2200m). Day 3. Jety Oguz valley – Pass Tilety. Breakfast. Trekking following a shepherd for 16 km will bring you to the Pass Tilety. Lunch. Tent camp accommodation. Dinner. Overnight(3200m). Day 4. Pass Tilety – Karakol Gorge. Breakfast. A three-hour walk passing Tilety (3800 m), will bring you to the Karakol Gorge. Lunch. A 10 km walk along an ancient nomads’ path will lead you to a tent camp near a nomads’ stopping place. Dinner. Overnights in tents. Day 5. Karakol Gorge. Breakfast. A shorter hike, of about 8 km from Karakol Gorge to a Shelter. Lunch and dinner. Overnight base camp. Day 6. Karakol Gorge – Keldyke Gorge. Breakfast. Hiking to a Mountain Lake called Ala-Kul (3600 m). It is more than 70 meters deep and of incomparable beauty. From the shore of the lake you can see a beautiful glacier which is the source of the lake. Hike through the Ala-Kul pass (3860 m) to the Keldyke Gorge. Lunch. From the Pass you will have an excellent view of the five thousand mountain peaks of Terskey Ala-Too – including Karakol peak, Djigit peak and Tashtanbek peak. The tent camp will be waiting for you in this wonderful place which is surrounded by magnificent rocks, and from where a lot of streams begin from the glaciers. Dinner. Tents overnight. Day 7. Keldyke Gorge – Karakol. Breakfast. Four-hour walk to the Altyn-Arashan resort, which is situated 2450 m above sea level. Lunch. Theró you can take a bath in thermal water. You will never be able to forget the sight of the snow on Peak Palatka (Tent) 5260 m or “Swallow’s Nest Pool”, nestling beneath the open sky. Transfer to Karakol (2 hours) in the afternoon. Accommodation in B&B. Dinner. Overnight in Karakol. Day 8. Karakol – north Issyk-Kul. Breakfast. Transfer to Issyk-Kul Resort Center along the North coast of Issyk-Kul Lake (160 km). Accommodation in a small hotel. Lunch. Rest. Dinner. Day 9. Issyk-Kul. Breakfast. Day at Issyk-Kul. Rest, boating along Issyk-Kul. Visits of petrogliphies and ethnographical museum. Lunch. Dinner. Overnights in the Issykl-Kul hotel. Day 10. Issyk-Kul – Bishkek. Breakfast. Transfer to Bishkek (250 km). On the way visit of Burana tower at the ancient city Balasagyn (XI-XIII). Lunch on the way. Accommodation in B&B. Dinner. Overnight in Bishkek. Day 11. Departure. Transfer to the airport. Departure.
For a trek it is necessary to have a rucksack, mountain boots, sleeping bag, warm clothes, sunglasses, raincoat, hat. Physically fit people able to hike in a mountain region can take this route (hiking time appoximately 5 – 7 hour / day).

Possible risks: Weather in this region is changing rapidly. There is a possibility of problems with visas at the borders. Therefore visas should be arranged in time.
Illnesses: There’s always a chance to catch cold as a result of bad choice of clothes, and to have a gastric-intestinal disease in case of non-observance of hygienic rules.
